Richard “Dick” Isbell established Aircraft Support Group in July of 1989. The company vision stemmed from Dick serving in the field for a number of years with the JETSTAR and realizing a serious parts support need. Working for Lockheed as a Service Representative, Dick held the knowledge to support his customers technically in many different scenarios. When Dick first started the company he would troubleshoot and execute sales during the day and overhaul parts at night in his garage. As business grew, meeting customer’s demands became more intense and Dick realized he needed assistance. So in 1990, Aircraft Support Group hired its first full time employee Joe Fellabaum. At that time Joe brought over 20 years JETSTAR experience to the table and the company continues today to benefit from his knowledge. By 1992 the business was definitely rolling and Dick needed full time help with the books. The lucky one for this position was his wife of 20 years Patricia Isbell. Pat took on a lot more than just the books though. Anything from re-ordering parts to making sales to packaging parts soon became her everyday regimen. For the next 6 years the snowball of growth continued with the purchase of additional test equipment, storage area, computers, JETSTARS and spares inventories. By 1998, Aircraft Support Group was out of room and it was time to acquire larger facilities. Dick and Pat purchased 3 acres in Conroe, Texas and constructed a 7,000 square foot warehouse for parts inventory and the overhaul shop. It seemed as if there was so much room in the new facility making everyday operation smoother than ever before. The company was out of room by the middle of 1999 and Dick was forced to break ground on building number two, also 7,000 square foot. Early 2000, the workload was at an all time high and Dick, Pat and Joe all needed some relief. Aircraft Support Group hired Derek Morgan, a former Garrett Aviation employee and new son-in-law of Dick and Pat. Derek was able to adapt quickly with having prior military, general, and corporate aviation experience. As 2002 came around and business was still climbing it was necessary to hire yet another full time employee to satisfy requirements of the JETSTAR Operators. Aircraft Support Group hired another former Garrett Aviation employee Jaie Walter. Jaie added five years of Garrett TFE 731 Engine experience to the company. With a few shy of 100 Lockheed JETSTARS left, Aircraft Support Group is the largest premier parts and technical support center in the World. JETSTARS are located in over 15 different countries where Aircraft Support Group currently supports the majority with plans for continuing support as long as there is a need.
